We all know that this February is longer than last years’ right? Duh. Leap year! But seriously, this have got to be the longest February of my life. My wife was hospitalized last week and it was so stressful! Both physically and mentally! Waiting for a loved one outside an operating room takes forever. Like every second took longer to move. Although I don’t really want to get into detail and I just want to say my wife is alright now. She has fully recovered. and to thank me (and my insurance!) for being there for her and for taking care of her. She bought me this:

Asus eeepc baby yeah!!

I was there when she bought it and she said she wanted to bring it to Singapore. So I said hell yeah she could if she wanted to then right after the cashier swiped the card. She told me it was for me! Awesome!! My wife is that awesome!! (more…)

I’ve been married for almost 14 months and yet I have never found the time to have my name and civil status updated and my ID card replaced at the SSS office.

I finally found the time this morning, having finally crossed off all of the items on my things to do list yesterday and work being relatively light today. I was pleasantly surprised to see there aren’t that many people at the office yet, but got a rude awakening when I saw this sign hanging over the counter I need to go to: OFFLINE.

Fifteen minutes wasted. What’s worse is that the ID capture machine at the Makati office is busted and I was told to go to the main office to have mine taken.

I hope I don’t burn another 14 months before I can get that replacement card.

And so it is

If all goes well, Bry and I will be living on our own in just 27 days. Although we agreed to start looking for a place to rent at the start of January, I never thought we’d actually find one so soon. I thought it’ll take three, maybe four months. Bry was thinking six months.

See, we don’t really have a big budget but we want to move closer to where we work. That alone is a challenge. It was so hard finding even prospective units to check out as most were unbelievably beyond what we can afford.

In particular, there was this one unit right in the heart of CBD that I love so much—two bedrooms and a spectacular view of the city—but it was being rented for 150 times more than our budget! So, obviously, we had to pass.

So imagine our delight when we saw this two-bedroom, two-storey unit 15 minutes away from where we work that was being rented out, fully furnished, at a rate that doesn’t even hit our budget ceiling! It doesn’t come with a parking space (who cares, right, since we don’t have a car anyway) but already includes the monthly association dues.

It’s a steal, I tell ya.

We gave the security deposit yesterday and signed the contract.

Now we have to make an inventory of what we have and don’t have. I’ve already made a list of things we absolutely need to purchase—drinking glasses, for example—and made a couple of other lists for things we need to buy but not immediately and things I want to buy but have to wait.

To say that we’re very excited is an understatement. I want to go shopping for home stuff stat!
