Glamified

Posted in Odds and Ends, Style Notes by aimee rae on September 30, 2007

I had my hair cut a couple of months back, to everyone’s surprise. My hair was starting to get long-ish again and I’m not ready to go back to my so-long-puedeng-pang-commercial hair days.

Plus, you know, women usually hie off to the salon when things get really way out of hand.

Was finally able to show overseas pal E my two-month-old ‘do and she said it looks rock star glam. Teehee.

Hey E, recognize the jewelry? ;)

Partie Deux

Posted in Odds and Ends by aimee rae on September 30, 2007

After being in hiatus for four and a half months, I’ve finally decided to try blogging yet again.

Partie Deux, as the title of this post goes, is actually misleading, seeing as I’ve been in and out of hiatus for several times over the past three years that this blog—and a couple of others on the side—has been in existence.

But four and a half months ago was the first time I actually considered bowing out of the blogosphere altogether, to the point where I actually deleted this blog.

Why, you ask?

Because I was tired of prostituting myself for everyone—friends, acquaintances, family, complete strangers even—on the Web. That’s the short of it. There’s a longer, extremely detailed version that I doubt anyone would want to take the time out to read, so let’s just stop at that.

Here’s hoping this resurrection will be a whole let less emo version of ze ole blog.

# 77 TODAY, GOD IS WEARING GREEN

Nasa amin ang huling halakhak.

The season ends for the Ateneo Blue Eagles as the De La Salle Green Archers step-laddered their way to the 2007 Finals with a 65-60 win. This has been one of the most nerve-wracking series that I’ve watched and both teams are evenly matched. It’s like a championship series and this “rich” rivalry has made Studio 23, Araneta Coliseum, and unscrupulous scalpers extremely happy.

Ateneo has shut down DLSU three times this season BUT on the games that really matter, the Green Archers went on to win twice. A post-game interview from Coach Franz Pumaren says it all: “Two is better than Three.” Di naman obvious ano?

Anyhoo, this series was closely fought with neither team yielding more points than the other. There is no “comfortable” lead and even at the last second of this classic five-game cardiac arrest, the blue team tried their best to catch up but this time, the Archers have found their mark.

And they now know how to milk the clock.

On the chances of the Green and White Squad to beat the potent UE Red Warriors, I just think that this win is needed to gain momentum. We’ve lost by a wide margin on the first round and almost won it on the second round. This team knows the pain of losing and they know how to bounce back.

As I’ve posted before, this team is probably the weakest squad that Coach Pumaren has handled. This is not the team that has the luxury of having a Mike Cortez or a Ren-Ren Ritualo but they managed to gain entry to this year’s finals.

This is not your kuya or ate’s DLSU team in terms of height and athleticism but one thing going for them is the Coach and his system.

It’s one of DLSU’s winning formulas.

This will be put to the test next week as the Pumaren brothers would look at each other the same way Cain looked at Abel. Which Pumaren magic is stronger? Would it be green or red?

Bench depth, height and offense would go to UE while strategy and experience would go to DLSU. With this scenario, as an arm-chair coach, my strategy for my team would be to keep the game close and try to win it in the final quarter.

On a lighter note, I just hope that TJ Manotoc and Boom Gonzales won’t get to anchor ANY of the championship games because of their obvious and biased reviews/blabber going for teams against DLSU.

Go VL SALLE! J
