# 43 ALL FOR THE FAMILY
ISN’T THAT RIGHT, MR. BIGGLESWORTH? Don Vito Corleone as icon of the strongman.
Call me a late bloomer to gangster films like The Godfather. I didn’t have the privilege to watch this movie but from what I’ve heard from a lot of people it is by far, the best movie that they have seen. I couldn’t agree more. Piracy’s greatest benefit to me is to be baptized in the name of the Godfather (Ahuhuhu… I have to use that line).
I was totally addicted to this film.
The Godfather has the best storyline, the best cast (Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, etc.) and the best script . It didn’t even feel like it was more than two hours. It delivered an undeniable truth from Don Vito Corleone and for me, it is one of the greatest lines in the movie (oh, I got this from this).
I work my whole life, I don’t apologize, to take care of my family. And I refused — to be a fool — dancing on the string, held by all those — bigshots. I don’t apologize — that’s my life –
The movie appeals to this gago because it presented similarities between Filipinos and Italians. I read in a magazine (darn, I can’t recall this mag) that featured F. Sionil Jose’s brief sojourn in Italy. He said something to the effect that the Filipinos are the Italians of Asia. He could be right.
- We love our families (immediate and/or extended). Ubusan ng lahi/ Have you seen our TV commercials?/ Have you seen our Senate and Congress?/ OFWs who have to leave their families to help their families.
- We love food. Imbes na olive oil, we drown our food with mantika. And pasta? We got Lucky Me! Pancit Canton. Oh, we eat everything. Even dogs. Hehe.
- We love feasts, processions, anything that gathers a lot of people.
- We are staunch Catholics. Go to Pampanga this Holy Week and watch those guilt-ridden penitents crucify themselves. A waste of money and time. God would forgive them if they start doing a lot of good things that would benefit a lot of people like planting a tree. This one deserves another entry.
- We are darn passionate/ romantic. Lovapalooza, anyone?
- We have the same politicians and scandals.
On the looks department, we have the edge. I’m imagining a pango Don in his BatangueƱo or PampangueƱo accent dropping this line…
‘Cause a man who doesn’t spend time with his family can never be a real man.
A perfect picture of the brown mafia.
THREE MARKS + MIGGY. One of the best times to have a photo with my brothers and Migmog.
# 42 MULA SA KATARANTADUHAN NG KUYA KO.
WARNING: Kumain muna bago panoorin.
# 41 A SONG THAT DESERVES A VIDEOKE RUN
From the great Sebastian Bach of Skidrow (doing the birit and not going overboard like Regine Velasquez).
Woke up to the sound of pouring rain
The wind would whisper and I’d think of you
And all the tears you cried, that called my name
And when you needed me I came through
I paint a picture of the days gone by
When love went blind and you would make me see
I’d stare a lifetime into your eyes
So that I knew you were there for me
Time after time you were there for me
Remember yesterday – walking hand in hand
Love letters in the sand – I remember you
Through the sleepless nights and every endless day
I’d wanna hear you say – I remember you
We spend the summer with the top rolled down
Wished ever after would be like this
You said I love you babe, without a sound
I said I’d give my life for just one kiss
I’d live for your smile and die for your kiss
Remember yesterday – walking hand in hand
Love letters in the sand – I remember you
Through the sleepless nights and every endless day
I’d wanna hear you say – I remember you
We’ve had our share of hard times
But that’s the price we paid
And through it all we kept the promise that we made
I swear you’ll never be lonely
Woke up to the sound of pouring rain
Washed away a dream of you
But nothing else could ever take you away
‘Cause you’ll always be my dream come true
Oh my darling, I love you
Remember yesterday – walking hand in hand
Love letters in the sand – I remember you
Through the sleepless nights and every endless day
I’d wanna hear you say – I remember you
Remember yesterday – walking hand in hand
Love letters in the sand – I remember you
Through the sleepless nights and every endless day
I’d wanna hear you say – I remember you
# 40 LOOKING FOR…
THE FRONT COVER. Such artistic interpretation.
AAAND THE BACK COVER. Maybe a hard truth to ponder for this generation.
I love listening to this group. I bumped into a bunch of their music videos (inspired/ official) and for me, they’re the bigger artists compared to the pogi bands or those who have “sold out” (billboards and all). Anyhoo, a preview from Youtube– of the group’s latest album… WASAK NA WASAK.
HANGGANG LIBING. Ang ganda ni Everlyn!
What I love about this video is its vintage look and its cast (notably, the Strange Brew cast!). The video’s director also made the Astro music video. Ang lupet talaga.
I checked the group’s web site with the announcement that they’re launching their new album on Feb. 16.
Wala pa rin hanggang ngayon.
